Eagle rehabilitated after head-on collision with truck

WAUPACA -- While swooping down to pick up some roadkill, an eagle crashed head on into a truck!

The truck's driver called the Waupaca County Sheriff's Department. A vet said the eagle had a concussion, so they turned the bird over to Pat Fisher.

Fisher runs the Feather Rehabilitation Center in New London. Fisher said she is still stunned the eagle survived.

"'Amazed,' 'incredible' is a better word for it, especially when you saw the pictures. The second picture had the head through the grill, and almost into the fan belt," Fisher said.

Fisher allowed the eagle to regain its strength in a secluded cage. She watched his progress from inside her home, through a camera system.

After about a month, the eagle was ready to be released, and is now back in the wild.

The truck driver has a $2,000 repair bill!
