Man accused in Racine murder granted competency hearing
RACINE -- One of the men accused of killing a Racine musician is claiming insanity.
21-year-old Kiori Billups was in court Wednesday morning, August 1st. A judge granted his request for a hearing to determine whether he is competent to stand trial.
Billups and 20-year-old Latriell Thurman are charged with killing 22-year-old Jeremiah Brook.
Prosecutors say they set up a drug deal with Brook with the intent of robbing him, and he was later found with a gunshot wound to his heart.
