Thousands collected for children who lost parents in motorcycle crash

GERMANTOWN -- Organizers of a fundraiser at Robert's Frozen Custard are calling it a huge success. One hundred percent of profits Tuesday went toward the three children left behind after their parents, Robert and Becki Lubow died in a motorcycle crash earlier this month.  The couple did not have life insurance.

Huge lines and thousands of people stopped by the fundraiser Tuesday.  Organizers collected $38,100.12. They presented a check to 17-year-old Lauren, 13-year-old Lukas and six-year-old Mya on Friday, August 3rd.  The kids plan to put the money toward college.

"We knew it was going to be unprecedented.  We've never done anything here in the restaurant that comes within a fraction of this," said Darren Stamm, over of Robert's Frozen Custard.

"It doesn't matter who you are, what's your background, what your political views , when there are three children in need in our community, everyone comes together regardless of their backgrounds and shows their love," said Jen Matheny, one of the fundraiser organizers.

Two other fundraisers are planned at Fat Charlie’s restaurant in Richfield on August 11th, and Sept. 8th at Wisconsin Harley-Davidson in Oconomowoc.  Plans are also in place to help the family buy a five-bedroom home.
