MILWAUKEE — The Watertown Police Department has filed a criminal complaint against an Indianapolis man for intentionally causing an individual who he believed was a 15-year-old girl to view sexually explicit conduct.
Watertown Police Department Detective Jon Caucutt was using Yahoo Messenger to conduct undercover online investigations when he was contacted by Robert Roach in a Yahoo chat room called “married but looking.” Det. Caucutt was posing as a 15-year-old female.
According to the criminal complaint, Roach, identified by the screen name “puck00,” contacted Det. Caucutt’s online persona. The two exchanged their “age, sex and location.” Roach identified himself as a 53-year-old male from Indianapolis. Det. Caucutt’s online persona was a 15-year-old female from Wisconsin.
Roach then sent Det. Caucutt’s online persona two photographs. Det. Caucutt used this information to identify Roach through Indiana driver’s records. Det. Caucutt also accessed Roach’s Facebook page and saw one of the same photographs sent from Roach (puck00) to Det. Caucutt’s online persona.
Records show that Det. Caucutt’s online persona and Roach communicated on numerous occasions between May 22nd and August 2nd.
On May 24th, May 29th, June 11th and June 28th Roach (puck00) activated a webcam. Det. Caucutt says on each occasion he saw Roach’s naked, erect penis and Roach (puck00) also masturbated.
The criminal complaint details numerous online conversations between Roach (puck00) and Det. Caucutt’s online persona. Multiple times Roach initiated sexual discusses and even told Det. Caucutt’s online persona that he was in love with her and wanted to meet before the end of June.
If convicted, Roach faces up to $10,000 in fines or six years in prison.
