Medical Examiner's report released on body parts found in sewer

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office on Thursday, August 16th released its report after dismembered human body parts were found in an alleyway sewer by city of Milwaukee DPW workers back on March 30th. The body parts have yet to be positively identified.

The Medical Examiner's report indicates when the body parts were removed from the sewer grate, additional items were found -- including a fired 12-gauge shotgun shell, a "crack pipe", a torn latex glove and a silver-colored ring/clamp, along with the sole insert of a shoe.

Officials say the body parts discovered belonged to an "unidentified black male," between the ages of 20 and 60. There was no clothing, wallet or identification found along with the remains.

"We have partial fingerprints, DNA , a good set of teeth and finally we have surgical hardware fixator plate in the neck and these parts, should we have a presumptive identification, we can compare with the individual who is missing to find out who this is,"

When the remains were found, MPD officers canvased the area and searched abandoned homes for potential evidence.

Dannyelle Harris came to the scene back in May when the body was found. Thursday, the Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the missing body was not that of his missing brother.

"I just kind of had hope that maybe it was him. I'm hoping whoever's family member it is can help give them some closure and let them know don't give up. Your sibling, son, brother, uncle -- if they're missing, they're out there," Harris said.

Information about the case has been posted to the recently established Milwaukee County Unidentified People website -- set up by the Medical Examiner's Office.
