Investigators identify victim found in Kenosha cemetery

Lisa Mezera

KENOSHA -- Investigators identified on Monday afternoon the body that was found in a Kenosha cemetery. She is 26-year-old Lisa Mezera.

Mezera's body was found inside the B’Nai Zedek Cemetery in the town of Somers on Sunday, August 19th. Officials say she had been beaten and strangled.

Mezera was last seen by her father around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.  Mezera's father reported her missing early Monday morning after he grew concerned when Lisa wasn't home and he heard a woman's body was found at the cemetery.

Investigators say Mezera was not a victim of a random act of violence. Officials say the crime appears to have been directed at Mezera.

The cemetery was closed while the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department investigated the crime scene.

An autopsy on Mezera's body is not yet complete.

Officials do not believe there is any reason for the public to be worried at this time.
