Five arrested after disturbance at Danny's Lounge in West Allis

WEST ALLIS -- West Allis police arrested five people after being called for a large disturbance outside Danny's Lounge located near S. 60th and Burnham early Wednesday morning, August 22nd. This is the second incident at the bar this week, according to police.

Police were dispatched to Danny's Lounge just after 1 a.m. When officers arrived on the scene, they witnessed a rowdy crowd pushing and shoving one another outside the bar. Authorities say when they went to disperse the crowd, several people resisted.

A witness to it all, who did not want to be identified, watched everything unfold.

"A lot of chaos, a lot of police cars, people fighting, a lot of shotguns, people running," the witness said.

Five people were arrested for disorderly conduct, including one who jumped on an officer's back. Most received tickets, but one person's case could be referred to the District Attorney's Office.

Authorities say one other person on the scene was resisting, but police were unable to arrest the individual because they fled the scene -- dropping a handgun in the process. Police say they were unable to catch the individual, but did recover the handgun.

This is the second time in four days police assistance was needed at Danny's Lounge.

On Saturday, August 18th  another large disturbance erupted at Danny's Lounge which stemmed from an argument.

FOX6 News obtained cell phone footage which shows an SUV crashing into two people and two parked cars, then hitting a moving car as it fled the scene. Following the crashes, gunfire erupted.

No one was shot during the incident, but the two people who were hit by the SUV sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital.

The two people who were in the getaway vehicle and the person who reportedly fired a weapon were all arrested.

The owner of Danny's Lounge says security guards were working at the bar during Saturday's incident, and they do pat-downs before they let anyone inside the bar. Whether those security measures were applied during Wednesday's early morning incident has yet to be determined.

West Allis' police chief says he will be going to the city's License and Health Committee next week to recommend the bar's license be revoked. The head of that committee says the bar has an ugly history of trouble and violence -- even under previous owners.
