New details revealed in search warrants regarding Harmony Food shooting

WAUWATOSA -- FOX6 News has uncovered new information in the case involving 16-year-old Deangelo Williams -- the teen accused in the fatal shooting of Dalbir Singh at Harmony II Food store on Milwaukee's north side.

Singh was fatally shot Wednesday night, August 15th at the Harmony II Food store near 38th and Locust.

New information in search warrants obtained by FOX6 News indicates a second person may have been involved in Singh's murder. This, as court proceedings continue in the case against Williams.

Williams waived his right to have a preliminary hearing within 10 days of his arrest during a court appearance Tuesday morning, August 21st, and was in court again Wednesday for a status conference and preliminary hearing.

Williams faces two felonies for allegedly being connected to the murder of a convenience store worker through an attempted robbery — he faces first-degree reckless homicide (party to a crime) and possession of a firearm by a felon.

The criminal complaint in the case indicates around 9:00 p.m. on August 15th, Dalbir Singh and his nephew, Jatinder Singh were exiting the back door at the Harmony II Food store at 13th and Locust when a suspect Jatinder has identified as Williams confronted Dalbir with a gun. The two Singh men got back inside the store, and Dalbir Singh was shot in his forehead as he and Jatinder (the store's owner) held the rear door closed.

A search warrant indicates that while holding the door, Dalbir Singh told Jatinder there were two people outside and that Jatinder recognized and identified a second man as a 19-year-old who was convicted in an unrelated April robbery.

FOX6 News is not identifying this second individual because he has not been charged in connection with Dalbir Singh's murder.

According to the search warrant, witnesses tell police this second man was in the store, threatening an employee, the day before Dalbir Singh's murder. The search warrant indicates this same man reported to the Milwaukee County Criminal Justice Facility to begin serving a sentence for the April robbery of Harmony II Food store the day after Dalbir Singh's murder.

Williams' preliminary hearing Wednesday was rescheduled for September 28th after the prosecuting attorney provided evidence for the defense attorneys to review.

The prosecutor says this evidence includes two DVD recordings -- one showing Williams in the Harmony II Food store minutes before Dalbir Singh's murder and the other showing the murder itself.

If convicted of the charges, Williams faces up to 60 years in prison. Bail remains $250,000 cash.
