GOP plans Armstrong tribute at Convention in Tampa

Tampa, Florida (CNN) -- Republicans planned Sunday, August 26th to pay tribute to the late astronaut Neil Armstrong, who was the first person to walk on the moon.

Republican National Convention officials put together a video tribute to the astronaut using the 13 LED panels that are part of the stage where Mitt Romney is scheduled Thursday, August 30th to formally accept the GOP nomination.

The stage is in the Tampa Bay Times Forum, which is currently empty except for workers putting the final touches on the convention and the media broadcasting live shows.

The first day of the convention was canceled by officials, because of the threat of Tropical Storm Isaac. The Romney campaign plans to start the convention on Tuesday.

Armstrong, 82, died Saturday, "following complications resulting from cardiovascular procedures," according to his family."
