MPD responds after grenade found near Palmer, Chambers

MILWAUKEE -- Children playing in a neighborhood near Palmer and Chambers Tuesday afternoon, August 28th came upon a grenade.

TheMilwaukee Police Department's Hazardous Devices Unit was called to the scene and took the grenade away from the scene -- to a safe place where it can be detonated.

Children were reportedly climbing trees, and noticed the rusty grenade in the grass behind a home. One boy told a nearby adult, who called police.

The Bomb Squad used a robotic device to collect the grenade and remove it from the scene.

No one was injured.

At this time, it is unclear whether the grenade was live or not.
