Custom bike show at the Harley-Davidson Museum draws large crowds

MILWAUKEE — Hundreds of motorcycles converged on Milwaukee this Labor Day Weekend, for a weekend full of excitement.  The Harley-Davidson Museum hosted a Custom Bike Show as part of the 12th annual “Milwaukee Rally.” Some people traveled thousands of miles to be there.

“We just love it here.  We wouldn’t miss this for the world,” Toni Pizzino said.

Toni and her husband, David, came all the way from South Carolina for this weekend’s events.

The Harley-Davidson Museum’s Custom Bike Show is a big attraction.  People couldn’t wait to get their eyes on the motorcycles.

“We have some of the best free-style bikes in the world on display,” Bob Kay with Biker Pros said.

Dozens of bike builders showcased their work in the show.  H. Gio Giovanni has been designing bikes for 15 years.  He says some of his bikes can cost up to $70,000.

“Real comfortable ride. It’s on tour this whole year for everybody,” Giovanni said.

“Customization and Harley-Davidson in a lot of ways are synonymous.  People love buying our motorcycles, but then, they love to individualize their bikes with our genuine parts and accessories and really make them their own,” Vice President of the Harley-Davidson Museum, Bill Davidson said.

Even though people enjoyed checking out the bikes, attending the Harley events is about more than just motorcycles.

“It’s the excitement and camaraderie of everybody.  Everybody loves each other here.  It’s awesome. It’s a great brotherhood,” Pizzino said.

Harley-Davidson celebrates its company anniversary every five years, and Harley riders are excited for the 110th next year.
