132 schools recognized for work with low-income students

MADISON -- Several schools in southeast Wisconsin are named Wisconsin Schools of Recognition by State Superintendent Tony Evers for the 2012-2013 school year. Evers says the honor goes to schools who employ "rigorous programming" to improve graduation rates, reduce dropout rates and close college readiness gaps for students living in low-income households.

"The staff and administration of these schools are committed to forging partnerships among teachers, parents administrators, other school staff members and the community to create an educational environment that supports children's learning," Evers said.

Schools receiving this award are given a plaque, and $1,000 in funds.
