Body found in Warnimont Park believed to be missing elderly man

CUDAHY -- Cudahy police say the body of an elderly man reported missing is believed to have been found in Warnimont Park. The body was discovered between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 6th.

Police say 71-year-old James Pauli was first reported missing on Wednesday, September 5th. His vehicle was found in the Kelly Senior Center parking lot in the 6100 block of S. Lake Drive in close proximity to Warnimont Park on Wednesday.

Officials searched Warnimont Park for Pauli, and nearby Grant Park Wednesday night and Thursday. Search dogs from PAWS, a volunteer search and rescue canine team, also helped law enforcement narrow their search.

Family and friends of Pauli did not want to speak on camera Thursday. They described Pauli as adventurous, and say he loved camping.

At this hour, it is unclear if there's anything suspicious about this case.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact the Cudahy Police Department at 414-769-2260.
