Officials investigate possible police officer impersonation incident
RACINE — The Racine County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible police officer impersonation incident that occurred Wednesday, September 26th.
Police say a young female was driving alone on CTH K (Apple Road) Wednesday around 7:30 p.m. when a dark colored vehicle displaying a red oscillating light on its front dash came up behind her vehicle. The woman thought the vehicle was a squad car and pulled over.
Authorities say after the woman pulled over an African-American male approached the woman’s car, displayed a weapon and assaulted her. The assault stopped when another vehicle drove passed and the assailant ran back to his car and left the scene.
The female victim said the assailant was not dressed as a police officer. She described the vehicle as a four-door, dark colored car.
Police are urging anyone with information to contact the Racine County Sheriff’s Office at 262-886-2300.
