"Scientific prodigy" Phillip Streich killed in Platteville farm accident

PLATTEVILLE -- FOX6 News has learned 21-year-old Phillip Streich died this past week. Streich was a student at Harvard University and widely known as a "scientific prodigy."

According to the "Harvard Crimson," Streich was killed in an accident at his family's farm in Platteville.

FOX6 News profiled Streich back in 2009. He studied nanotechnology at UW-Platteville when he was just 16!

Streich figured out a way to turn a substance called "graphene" into liquid -- something no one had ever done before.

Before attending UW-Platteville, Streich was homeschooled.
