Jesse Steinmetz pleads no contest in fatal hit-and-run crash

MILWAUKEE -- Jesse Steinmetz, a man accused of running over a woman laying in the road, entered a no contest plea on Thursday, October 4th during what was scheduled to be a pre-trial hearing.

Steinmetz entered the no contest plea to homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle. He was originally charged with hit-and-run involving death in connection with the incident which took place at 81st and Orchard in West Allis back on April 29th.

The woman who was run over and later died was 45-year-old West Allis resident Mary Moore. She suffered crushing injuries to her torso, a fractured skull and multiple other injuries.

Investigators say they believe Moore was already lying in the street when she was struck.

Ironically, Moore’s son, Thomas Olson, was later killed in a rollover crash as Olson was headed to the hospital where he believed his mother was taken, injured.

Steinmetz will be sentenced on Thursday, December 13th.
