Contact 6: Another Groupon offer for “The Fireplace Doctor”

MILWAUKEE — FOX6′s Contact 6 is issuing an alert regarding an offer on Groupon from a company Contact 6 investigated a little over a month ago. “The Fireplace Doctor of Milwaukee” claims to be bonded and insured, but when a worker made a mistake, the company ran away from the problem.

Mary Kossik bought a discounted cleaning Groupon from “The Fireplace Doctor,” but the cleaning went horribly wrong. Black soot was spewed through Kossik’s home — $11,000 in damage!

The company refused to give Kossik its insurance information.

“The Fireplace Doctor” never responded to Contact 6′s request for an interview. The company has an “F” rating with the Better Business Bureau and countless complaints leveled against it. However, Groupon says the company met its standards of quality!

Now, a Contact 6 viewer sent in a new Groupon for “The Fireplace Doctor.” Contact 6 reached out to the company, but received no response.

Groupon has said it stands by its previous statement, adding “The Fireplace Doctor’s” customer service inquiries have been relatively low.
