Officer fired after gun goes off in the governor's mansion

MADISON (AP) -- A Capitol Police officer has been fired after accidentally firing his gun inside the governor's mansion around 10:45 p.m. Thursday night, October 18th.

State Department of Administration spokeswoman Stephanie Marquis says the officer was a newer employee who was still serving his initial probationary period. he has been terminated.

Gov. Scott Walker and his family were not home at the time and no one was injured.
