WELL Spa + Salon offering free makeovers for Locks of Love donations
MILWAUKEE -- WELL Spa + Salon inside the Pfister Hotel in downtown Milwaukee is offering free makeovers for those willing to donate their hair to Locks of Love -- a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces for children suffering from long-term medical hair loss.
Sophia Robles decided to donate her hair to Locks of Love via the WELL Spa + Salon.
Although parting ways with long locks can be difficult, Robles said she found comfort knowing she would make a difference in a child's life.
"I'm nervous and excited at the same time, but it's going to a good cause. I'm very grateful that I can grow my hair as long as I can in such a short period of time and donate it," Robles said.
"To have a beautiful, high-end human hair hairpiece that is made specifically and cut specifically for them is such an incredible gift," WELL Spa + Salon Director Elizabeth Walsh.
To encourage and reward people donating their hair to Locks of Love, the WELL Spa + Salon is now offering free makeovers to donors.
"You`ll get a complete haircut, makeup and your nails done complimentary just to say thank you so much for the great deed that you've done," Walsh said.
Robles took advantage of the opportunity for a free makeover.
"We did a little bit of cheek color, a very light amount of eyeliner, and then just some mascara and we`ll do a little lip gloss on her," WELL Spa + Salon esthetician Nova Vandevoort said.
This is the third time Robles has donated her hair to Locks of Love, but it's her first makeover. She told FOX6 News she loves her new look and there may even be some perks to her updated "do."
"I don`t have to use as much shampoo or conditioner, which is going to be nice because I`ll be able to save some money on shampoo," Robles said.
Once her locks grow back, Robles plans to do it all over again.
This is an ongoing special the Well Spa + Salon in the Pfister Hotel is offering. Those interested can make an appointment Monday through Thursday.
The makeover is complimentary with a donation of 10 inches of hair that has not been highlighted.
