Rockwell Automation's Allen Bradley clock tower celebrates 50th anniversary

MILWAUKEE -- Rockwell Automation's Allen Bradley clock tower celebrated its 50th anniversary Wednesday, October 31st.

On October 31st, 1962, Harry Bradley flipped the switch to illuminate the largest four-faced clock in the world.

This year, the clock got some upgrades: the clock's fluorescent lighting was replaced with new LED fixtures that will reduce energy use by 80%.

The annual expected savings of 300,000 kilowatt hours is enough energy to power more than 30 homes a year.

The new LEDs will last up to 22 years, compared to less than three years of lighting provided by the original fixtures.
