Packers players take on soldiers in "Pros vs. Joes" video game event

GREEN BAY -- It was the pros against the G.I. Joes at Lambeau Field on Saturday, November 3rd. Both sides went head-to-head playing video games online.

The Joes were playing at the U.S.O Center overseas, and the pros in Lambeau Field's atrium.

The game in play? Call of Duty.

Green Bay Packers players Marshall Newhouse, Ryan Taylor and Tom Crabtree all took part in the event.

"Anytime you're able to interact with the men and women who protect our lives and give us the freedoms that we have -- it's a special thing. It's what we were kind of trying to do today. As far away as they are, it's still cool to be able to interact," Crabtree said.

Members of the soldiers' families were also on hand to witness the competition.

The event was sponsored by WPS Health Insurance through the Operation Fan Mail program.

Operation Fan Mail is a program that recognizes military families at each Packers home game. The program marks its sixth season in 2012.

The program, which debuted in 2007, is designed to recognize families with a member who is on active duty. The Packers and WPS Health Insurance host a family at each 2012 home game and recognize them on the field during pregame activities.

A total of 48 families have been recognized during the past five seasons.
