MILWAUKEE — A 23-year-old woman was cited by Milwaukee County Sheriff’s deputies after she was involved in a rollover crash that shut down I-94 near 27th St. early Wednesday, November 7th.
A witness told officials the woman was traveling at a high rate of speed in the westbound lanes of I-94 around 5:30 a.m. The woman’s vehicle reportedly hit the median wall, crossed all lanes of traffic, and rolled over. The van she was driving struck a sign and a light pole before coming to a stop.
The driver was able to get out of the van by the time the first deputy arrived on the scene. She indicated her three-year-old son was still inside the vehicle — but a search found no child. Instead, officials determined the boy was with relatives.
Officials say the driver of the minivan was confused from the crash, creating uncertainty regarding the child’s whereabouts. She declined medical attention but was transported to Froedtert Hospital as a precaution.
There are no signs that the driver of the minivan was intoxicated.
The driver was cited for driving too fast for conditions, operating without a valid license and operating without insurance.
