Law enforcement union sues over Walker's collective bargaining law

MADISON (AP) -- An association representing law enforcement agencies including University of Wisconsin officers and Capitol police has filed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of a state law effectively ending collective bargaining for most public workers.

The lawsuit filed Tuesday, November 13th by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Association makes similar arguments as a lawsuit brought by Madison teachers and Milwaukee city workers.

A judge in that case in September overturned major portions of the law as it pertained to school district employees and local government workers.

That ruling didn't apply to state employees, like the law enforcement officers who filed the new lawsuit Tuesday.

A spokeswoman for Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen had no immediate comment on the latest lawsuit. Van Hollen has appealed the other ruling.
