Campbellsport community reeling after series of tragedies
CAMPBELLSPORT -- The Campbellsport community is uniting in tragedy once again -- after two recent incidents involving Campbellsport High School students. A 17-year-old student was killed in a crash Friday, November 16th that left two others injured. Then, a car driven by Campbellsport student Nickolos Stahl accidentally backed into a shed full of hunters, killing Stahl's uncle, Robert Stahl.
What makes this all even more interconnected is the fact that Nickolos Stahl is the brother of Sabrina Stahl -- one of three Campbellsport High School students killed in a February crash involving nine girls who were riding in a speeding Chevy Tahoe.
Following these two recent incidents in the small town of Campbellsport, many in the community are in disbelief that so much could happen in so little time.
A tarp covered the Town of Ashford garage on Monday, November 19th -- where hunters gathered Saturday evening to discuss upcoming hunting plans.
Fond du Lac Sheriff's officials say 17-year-old Nickolos Stahl tried to move a vehicle, but the vehicle went into reverse, slamming through the garage door and striking four inside. Nickolos' uncle, 59-year-old Robert Stahl was killed.
Pastor Doug Birr with the Alliance Church said he told his congregants Sunday what is happening in Campbellsport is the battle between evil and good.
"God can overcome. Whether it is the first accident in February or the last two of them, God can turn around what Satan is trying to do," Birr said.
Meanwhile, the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Department says this latest incident in Campbellsport was an accident, and no charges are expected.
"There was no alcohol involved. It was just a tragic incident on private property. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the community and the families involved," Deputy Chief Mark Strand with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Department said.
Campbellsport High School officials told FOX6 News they are reaching out to the Stahl family to see what can be done to help support Nickolos in the midst of these tragic events.
17-year-old Giovanni Clouse, killed in Friday's crash in Campbellsport, was laid to rest on Monday, November 19th.
