Family, friends remember Giovanni Clouse

CAMPBELLSPORT -- Family and friends gathered on Monday, November 19th to remember Campbellsport High School senior Giovanni Clouse.

Clouse died in a car crash shortly before 3 a.m. on Friday, November 16th. He was a passenger in a car that went off the road and hit a tree in Fond du Lac.

Campbellsport H.S. Principal Kristen Langer has been through this before with her students. She said she understands everyone has their own way of coping with the tragedy.

"On Friday, the kids, some of them went to the foods room and cooked some meals to take to the Clouse family," said Langer. "Gio hoped to, planned to go to MPTC next year and get into culinary school. There was about four or five teachers down there and quite a few kids."

As if dealing with grief in school wasn't enough, on Monday students trickled into a funeral home for the wake and funeral of their classmate.

There is one person who couldn't be there to see Clouse one last time -- his best friend, Alex Schultz. The 17-year-old Campbellsport senior was in the car with Clouse when it crashed. He's hospitalized in critical condition at Children's Hospital in Wauwatosa.

The driver of the car, 18-year-old Gilberto Castaneda-Bobadilla, is in serious condition at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah.

As for the investigation into what caused the crash, police are constructing a timeline leading up to the incident. Their preliminary information suggests speed may have been a factor. Alcohol does not appear to be involved.
