Couple on the run, accused of child abuse, arrested in Florida theme park

ORLANDO (CNN) — Investigators tracked down a New Hampshire couple wanted on child abuse charges in a very unlikely place. They found them hundreds of a miles away at an Orlando theme park.

Jessica Linscott and Roland Dow have been on the run, accused of beating and burning Linscott’s three-year-old son James, leaving the toddler in intensive care with life-threatening injuries.

Police say Linscott told doctors her son did it to himself.

After an exhaustive search with hundreds of tips and potential sightings pouring in, the couple was found 1,300 miles away in Orlando — at a theme park watching a parade.

“Just as though they were here on vacation. Just normal, no disguise, no nothing. They were just dressed like normal for the weather and everything else and they were here,” David Charles with the U.S. Marshals said.

U.S. Marshals say it was a tip that led them to Universal Studios. Over a dozen marshals combed the theme park, eventually arresting Linscott and Dow the moment they laid eyes on them.

“They were pretty calm, pretty cool. There was no fuss,” Charles said.

James remained in the hospital making small steps towards recovery while people in Plaistow, New Hampshire wonder how this mother could be arrested in a theme park, of all places.

The couple spent two weeks on the run after leaving the woman’s son at the hospital.

The mother was arrested on charges for failing to get medical attention for her son while her boyfriend faces assault charges.

The two are scheduled to appear in court in Florida Friday, November 30th unless they waive extradition.
