RACINE — Racine Police officials say a 79-year-old Racine man was killed when a bus hit his SUV on Thursday afternoon, December 6th near the intersection of S. Memorial Drive and De Koven Ave.

Police say the incident occurred around 2:30 Thursday afternoon and involved a Belle Urban System Bus and a Kia Soul SUV.

Police say the man was transported via Flight for Life to the hospital in order to be transferred to a trauma center, but he died at the hospital.

The driver of the bus is cooperating with the investigation.  The driver and another passenger were the only two people on the bus at the time of the accident.

Officials say the bus was headed eastbound on DeKovan Ave. and the Kia was headed northbound on S. Memorial Drive. The official cause of the crash is unknown.

The Wisconsin State Patrol was on the scene doing accident reconstruction on Thursday evening.

Officials say their preliminary investigation indicates it does not appear alcohol or other substances were factors in the crash.
