Soldier has Christmas surprise for young daughter

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- Five-year-old Brielle thought she was just going to check out a light show and meet Santa Thursday night at Washington County Fair Park.

She gazed at the lights, and played with her mom, Andrea.

When it came time to tell Santa what she wants for Christmas, Brielle confidently said: "My daddy to come home."

Moments later "Daddy," U.S. Army Captain Steve Olk, walked through the door.  He had just wrapped up a tour of duty in Afghanistan that began in February.  His arrival home was three days ahead of schedule.

Brielle ran into her dad's arm.

"I missed you," Olk said, before his daughter replied: "I missed you too daddy."

Olk was also greeted in the room my Andrea, who was holding their other daughter 18-month-old Annika.  Other extended family and friends were there as well.

"Just absolutely great to be home," Olk said.

"I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas," Andrea added.
