First responders in Wisconsin share an unwanted bond

OAK CREEK -- Some first responders in southeast Wisconsin share a bond with those who handled the aftermath of the Sandy Hook mass shooting. But what separates the horrors seen in Newtown, CT from the crisis experienced in Oak Creek are the ages of the victims.

As part of that healing process, Oak Creek Fire Chief Tom Rosandich called Newtown's fire chief. He offered condolences and any advice about dealing with mass shootings. He says he simply reached out just as other chief did for him in the past.

"One of the things that I received after the Sikh temple shootings was a call from the fire chief out in Aurora, Colorado," said Rosandich.

Rosandich describes the tragic chain of calls as a way of paying it forward; one responding department looking after the next -- both copying with the unimaginable.

"It's a club that no one wants to belong to. But here we are and we have to deal with it," said Rosandich.
