Wisconsin’s Salvation Army kettle drive falling short

MILWAUKEE -- The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign wraps up Monday, December 24th and organizers say the drive is in danger of falling short of its annual goal.

The organization set a $3 million donation goal for the season. So far it has raised a little more than $2 million. One organizer attributes the donation shortage to the increased use of credit or debit cards instead of cash -- which is a problem throughout the nation.

Volunteers say if you don't have cash, but wish to donate, you can donate $10 by text the word "GIVE" to 80888.

The donations are used to help sustain the Salvation Army's critical services and programs -- including the Toy Shop, The Christmas Family Feast and its emergency shelters.
