Wauwatosa church hosts candlelight vigil in Officer Sebena's honor

WAUWATOSA -- Trinity Episcopal Church in Wauwatosa hosted a candlelight vigil Monday night, December 24th in honor of slain Wauwatosa Police Officer Jennifer Sebena.

Sebena was found dead near Underwood and Harmonee in downtown Wauwatosa early Monday morning. Officials say Officer Sebena died after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.

The church had to cancel 4:00 p.m. Christmas Eve services due to the ongoing investigation.

Police have said there were no witnesses to this incident, and no suspect(s) are in custody.

Monday night's vigil was followed by a time of carols in the church at 10:30 p.m. followed by Christmas Eve services at 11:00 p.m.

"At the time of greatest pain, we know of no better way to heal than to gather as a community in prayer," Bill Robison with Trinity Episcopal Church said in a news release.

Wauwatosa Police Lt. Gerald Witkowski says Officer Sebena graduated from MATC's Police Academcy and began working with the Wauwatosa Police Department. Lt. Witkowski says Officer Sebena was married and describes her as a great person and officer.

FOX6 News has learned through a video Sebena's husband made to promote his church that he is an Iraq war veteran. The two reportedly went to high school together and reconnected while he was serving overseas.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Wauwatosa Police Department's Tip Line at 414-771-TOSA (8672).
