Packers, Vikings square off for second-straight week in Wild Card contest

GREEN BAY -- The Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings square off for the second-straight week -- this time, at Lambeau Field, for the NFC Wild Card contest. This, after the Vikings defeated the Packers in Minnesota last week, 37-34.

Kickoff is set for Saturday, January 5th at 7:00 p.m.

The Packers and Vikings are set to square off in the postseason for just the second time in the 52-year history of the series. The other playoff meeting between the NFC North division rivals came in a Wild Card contest at Lambeau Field on January 9th, 2005.

This Saturday’s game will mark the third time in team history that the Packers have played an opponent in the season finale and then faced that same team in the playoffs the following week.

With a Week 15 win over the Chicago Bears, the Packers clinched a playoff berth.

The Packers and Vikings last met at Lambeau Field on December 2nd, 2012, and the Packers won, 23-14.

During their last postseason meeting on January 9th, 2005, the Vikings won 31-17.

With Sunday’s loss in Minnesota, the Packers are now a No. 3 seed heading into the playoffs.

Sunday’s nail-biter of a game was tied 34-34 with just two minutes to play, when Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder completed a third-and-11 pass to Mike Jenkins and Vikings Adrian Peterson did the rest — completing a 26-yard run that allowed Vikings rookie kicker Blair Walsh to complete a 29-yard field goal as time expired, leading to a 37-34 Vikings victory.

Peterson fell just nine yards shy of setting the all-time single-season rushing record.

The Vikings led the Packers 20-10 at halftime.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers threw for 365 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday’s game.
