Corey Stingley's death investigated while family, friends remember

WEST ALLIS -- There are many questions surrounding the death of 16-year-old Corey Stingley, a student of Nathan Hale High School.

Officials say Stingley went into a West Allis convenience store on December 14th. Three customers suspected him of stealing what one source says was a pocket-sized bottle of alcohol. Once outside the store, out of camera range, something happened.

Sources say the customers held the teen for police -- and when police arrived, Stingley was not breathing.

The Nathan Hale football player and cross country runner died on Saturday, December 29th. In a Caring Bridge website, his parents say they took him off life support because of severe brain injury. They hoped to donate his organs to help others.

The three customers involved in the December 14th incident were arrested. One was referred to the district attorney's office for possible charges.

Stingley's funeral is set for Saturday, January 5th.
