Schools facing recent tragedies come together

WEST ALLIS--  For students at Nathan Hale High School in West Allis and Hamilton High School in Sussex, it has been an emotional week. Both schools had a student their life.

Hale senior Corey Stingley died on December 29th following an incident at a West Allis convenience store. Hamilton senior Aaron Zagorski lost his life on January 1st.

To honor their fallen classmates, students from each school got together during Friday night's basketball game between Hamilton and Hale.

Hamilton students wore green for Hale. Meanwhile, Hale students wore red for Hamilton.

The support spread quickly through the schools and even across the country on Twitter. Even Greg Jennings of the Green Bay Packers helped make it trend nationally using the hashtag: #Zstrong.

"It's huge," says Hamilton senior Max Roozen. "Coming from a school of maybe 1,400 kids, to get it nationwide is just crazy. He actually didn't even have a Twitter. But still it's good to get it trending."

For the students, this was a chance to support each other and show a sense of unity between two rivals during a very difficult and emotional time.

Hale senior Tyler Lucchesi says, "this is one of the coolest moments I've ever been a part of in high school. I'll never foget this moment."
