West Allis detective on administrative leave following arrest

WEST ALLIS (WITI) -- West Allis police detective Bradley Sterling was arrested Wednesday, January 9th on suspicion of sexual assault and official misconduct.

West Allis police officials say a concerning complaint came in against 14-year detective Bradley Sterling, and police officials went to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office for help.

During this investigation, Sterling allegedly met up with a woman in West Allis, while on duty. A source told FOX6 News he made sexual advances toward the woman.

"The West Allis Police Department holds all its employees to a high standard. The law holds all its officers to a higher standard and we do as well and we will always do thorough investigations into complaints allegations," West Allis Police Chief Charles Padgett said.

An internet search shows Sterling was an honored official. In 2009, he was awarded an honor as a special investigator. In 2010, Sterling was noted as working as a school liaison officer.

Sterling is now on administrative leave, and the District Attorney's Office is reviewing this case to determine whether he should be charged.
