Two hurt after car strikes building in Sheboygan

SHEBOYGAN (WITI) -- Two people were hurt Monday morning, January 21st after a car struck a building near S. 8th St. and Pennsylvania Ave. in Sheboygan.

The investigation determined a vehicle driven by a 71-year-old Sheboygan man was driving north on S. 8th St. The vehicle struck a parked car causing thE vehicle to be pushed forward and strike the vehicle in front of it. The vehicle continued northbound at a high rate of speed according to a witness, who believed the vehicle may have been traveling near 80 m.p.h. 

The vehicle then climbed the northeast curbing at N. 8th St. & Pennsylvania Ave. and struck a light pole and a large concrete planter causing the planter to be pushed into the middle of N. 8th St. The impact with the planter caused the vehicle to strike the building at 501 N. 8th St. 

The vehicle was severely damaged.  A female passenger in the vehicle, a 58-year-old Sheboygan woman, had to be cut from the vehicle. Both victims were taken to Aurora Memorial Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. 

The male driver suffered minor injuries and was released from the hospital.  The female passenger sustained facial and internal injuries and was transported via Flight for Life helicopter to Froedtert Hospital.
