Packers Finley joins Feeding America for Defeat Hunger Bowl

GREEN BAY (WITI) -- A Tight End's primary job is to catch passes, but Green Green Bay Packers Tight End Jermichael Finley has learned there are times when giving can be much more rewarding than receiving.

Finley heard cheers of a different kind when he visited the Walmart store on East Capitol Drive last week. Jermichael and his wife Courtney have been totally committed as partners with FOX6 News, Walmart and Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin for the First Annual Defeat Hunger Bowl.

Feeding America Wisconsin distributes more than 18,000 pounds of food per year to more than 1,000 pantries, meal programs and other non-profit agencies that serve 330,000 in eastern Wisconsin.

Finley felt hunger himself growing up in Texas.

Opinions of Packers fans about Finley's play on the field haven't always been positive. There have been reports that Finley won't be back next season -- even with a year left on his contract. However, #88 turned some heads with his performance in the second half of the season -- including that of Coach Mike McCarthy.

Finely said he couldn't help but be stung by the criticism, but he decided to turn it into his advantage.

Finley was injured when the Packers won Super Bowl 45. He hopes to raise the Lombardi Trophy himself someday, and hopes it is in a Packers uniform.
