Five charged in disappearance, murder of Evon Young

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Five people are now charged in connection with the January 2nd disappearance and murder of Evon Young. Now, authorities are searching a landfill for the body.

37-year-old Ron Allen and 23-year-old Devin Seaberry are each charged with first-degree intentional homicide, party to a crime.

26-year-old Billy Griffin, 18-year-old Ashanti Mcalister and 27-year-old Victor Stewart each face one count of substantial battery (substantial bodily harm with intent to cause bodily harm), as a party to a crime.

Evon Young, a local rapper, was reported missing on Wednesday, January 2nd by his mother Annette Cross-Perry.

"I don't want to see their faces. I don't want to listen to what they did. There's nothing in my mind that can justify what they did because you took him from me," said Cross-Perry in an interview with FOX6 News on Wednesday, January 23rd.

The faces Cross-Perry is referring to are the five men pictured above. Police believe they took part in the killing of Young on New Year's Day in the basement of the house where Young lived -- nearly 52nd and Custer.

"It's not fair. It's just not fair. There was no reason behind this. There's nothing you can tell me to make this right," said Cross-Perry.

A criminal complaint says Stewart, Mcalister, Allen and Seaberry came to the house near 52nd and Custer that Young shared with Griffin. Stewart says Young could not be trusted -- and he told Griffin that he could be reinstated into their street gang (the Black P-Stones) if he killed Young.

Police say the five accused beat Young, choked him with a thick chain and then Mcalister shot him three times.

Evon Young album coverCross-Perry says she will keep the rest of her family close and keep working to fulfill her son's dream -- releasing his next CD.

"I'm going to do my best to protect the ones who are here and to teach them to still honor and respect human life," said Cross-Perry.

On the CD cover yet to be released, Evon Young drew a self-portrait -- not knowing how foreshadowing it was. It shows him with angel wings.

The complaint says all five suspects named in this story put the body of Young in a dumpster. That's why police are now looking in a landfill for Young's body.

Allen and Seaberry face life in prison if convicted on the charges they face. Griffin, Mcalister and Stewart face up to three-and-a-half years in prison and a $10,000 fine upon conviction.
