Job fair held for laid-off Golden Guernsey Dairy workers

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- More than 100 out-of-work Golden Guernsey Dairy workers took part in a job fair in Waukesha County on Friday, January 25th.

Jeff Huebner worked at the dairy for 34 years. He started there right out of high school.

"I've never really had to apply for a job. This is all kind of new and it's overwhelming," said Huebner.

More than 30 employers from food services to manufacturing were together in one room on Friday, looking for skilled workers.

"What you're really seeing here is what we call an all hands on deck approach," said Deborah Wallendal of the Waukesha County Technical College.

Friday's job fair was put together exclusively for those who found themselves out of work when Golden Guernsey suddenly closed its doors early in January. Applicants could fill out applications, do interviews on site, and even land a job.

"Hopefully we will be able to make job offers to them so that they can start working again," said James Wenzler of Patrick Cudahy.
