37-year-old woman killed in single-vehicle crash in Wash. Co.

TOWN OF WAYNE (WITI) -- Washington County Sheriff's officials say 37-year-old Diane Polsin was killed in a crash on Lake Bernice Drive south of State Highway 28.

The crash occurred at approximately 4:29 p.m., and was a single-vehicle crash.

The first arriving Deputy located the vehicle overturned in the east shoulder.  The vehicle had struck a nearby electrical pole and was severely damaged.

There was no verbal or physical response from within the vehicle.

Several downed power lines were observed lying on the vehicle, and We Energies was immediately summoned to the scene to ensure the wires were de-energized.

After contact could be safely made by rescue personnel, the sole occupant and operator of the vehicle was found to be deceased.

A preliminary investigation into the cause of the accident suggests that the vehicle had been northbound on Lake Bernice Drive, when for an unknown reason it left the road (right), collided with an electric pole and subsequently overturned.

At this time the accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Accident Reconstruction Unit.
