Shoppers pick up last-minute goodies for Super Bowl parties
MILWAUKEE (WITI) — Super Bowl parties are not all about football — with many putting just as much focus on the food! Grocery stores were busy on Sunday with football fans picking up last-minute goodies for their Super Bowl celebrations.
Shoppers picked up game day grub on Sunday for the perfect Super Bowl party.
For many, the fun of the Super Bowl party is all about creating the best food to pair with the big game.
“You gotta have the football first, and then the food. We’re having burgers with bacon and pepper jack cheese. You gotta have the pretzel buns and the beer of course!” Kylene Dieck said.
Dieck was shopping at the busy Sendik’s Food Market on Sunday morning. The store featured chicken wings, guacamole and cakes with football themes.
“Super Bowl Sunday has become a defacto holiday, and holidays for Americans have become all about food. There’s lots of game day parties, party platters, chicken wings — lots of fun stuff just to have people enjoy the Super Bowl,” Dieck said.
Those who would rather stay in front of the television vs. the stove turned to the experts at Saz’s Catering.
“We probably have about 15 or so guys and gals in the catering kitchen putting out orders. A lot of times our food, what we’re known for goes with the Super Bowl and we’re happy to be a part of their day,” chef Michael Paris said.
Saz’s Catering says this is one of the busiest catering days of the year — right up there with Thanksgiving and Christmas.
