Two shot, one dead on Milwaukee's south side

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police are investigating a double shooting on the city's south side that occurred early Sunday, February 3rd. One man is dead and another wounded.

The shooting happened around 2:15 a.m. at 18th and Greenfield, near Futuristic Lounge.

Police found 21-year-old Jordin Crawley fatally shot in the head. The second victim, a 23-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and is in stable condition.

Esther Ferrer lives next door to the Futuristic Lounge and says the shooting happened as people were leaving.

"Maybe 10 shots. Everybody scattered and started running and you hear people screaming. Ever since there was no smoking in bars, you have these crowds outside. It's not the first time there's been a shooting. Maybe once a month," Ferrer said.

Ferrer said she stays awake as long as the club is open because of things that have occurred in the past.

"I'm fearful because every time the bar is going to open, I make sure my kids are in the far east side of the house. I already had bullets go through my daughter's room," Ferrer said.

Many in the area say they are desensitized due to recent crimes. Keeshawn Winters was a victim himself in the past.

"I got robbed in October. It's a bad area. Everybody knows that. I'm not surprised really. People die over here all the time. I just don't let it bother me. I just try not to think about it," Winters said.

As police try to determine the motive of this shooting, those in the area just want the disruptive behavior to end for their sake and the victims'.

"My prayers are with the family for the person who got shot. It shouldn't happen to anyone," Ferrer said.

The investigation continues into the circumstances of the shooting. No arrests have been made.
