Dana Hooper, woman accused of killing infant, committed for life

WAUKESHA COUNTY (WITI) -- Dana Hooper of Oconomowoc was committed for life on Monday, February 4th after a court proceeding during which she pleaded guilty, then not guilty due to mental disease/defect to a first degree intentional homicide charge.

Hooper is accused of killing her 10-week-old baby on September 15th.

A criminal complaint in the case says a Medical Examiner’s report indicated the baby died due to a large number of stab wounds to the chest and torso area.

Hooper told officials neither she, nor her husband had called authorities after the baby was killed — but instead went to the hospital to check Hooper in for psychiatric help.

In court on Monday, court officials said they believe conditional release for Hooper would pose a significant risk of bodily harm to Hooper or others.
