Brookfield saw light snow, mostly clear roadways Thurs. afternoon

WAUKESHA CO. (WITI) -- A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for all counties in southeast Wisconsin and continues through midnight. This storm has the potential to be the biggest snow event so far this season for some of the FOX6 viewing area.

Thursday morning and early Thursday afternoon, motorists traveling in Waukesha County saw mostly clear roadways. However, officials said drivers should prepare for mixed precipitation of snow, sleet and freezing rain.  As the storm system departs later in the day, potential for lake enhanced snowfall exists.

Officials say 96 salt trucks are on standby throughout Waukesha County in preparation for winter weather conditions.

Motorists are advised that visibility and varying road conditions will be challenging throughout the day. WisDOT urges motorists to check road conditions before leaving home by calling 511 or visiting Wisconsin 511 online.
