Village of Menomonee Falls one of the 2013 "Safest Cities"

MENOMONEE FALLS (WITI) -- The Village of Menomonee Falls has received the honor as one of the 2013 Safest Cities in America for cities with a population of over 25,000.  This honor was received from the neighborhood research site, NeighborhoodScout.

The award was unsolicited and based on the total number of crimes per 1,000 residents.  Data used for the research are 1) the total UCR crimes reported to the FBI to have occurred in each city, and 2) the population of each city.  Crime statistics reflect the 2011 calendar year, which are the most recent vetted by the FBI.

In a statement, the Menomonee Falls Police Department said: "The Menomonee Falls Police Department takes pride in keeping our community safe.  The men and women of the department work diligently and effectively to create a safe environment for our citizens.  Our police department also, works extremely well with our citizens, businesses, and Neighborhood Watch (voted best in the nation in 2009 by the National Sheriffs’ Association.)"
