New website launched focusing on wellness of African-American men

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A new website has been launched, focusing on the health and well-being of African-American men in the Milwaukee area.

The website is BrainBrawnBody.com, and it launched on Thursday, February 21st.

The site was founded by Milwaukee radio personality Eric Von and his wife Faithe Colas.

"Brain, Brawn and Body is a website focusing on the health concerns of African-American men. It's designed to inform African-American men and their families of better ways to live their lives so that they're healthier and at some point, wealthier and maybe even wiser. What we've tried to do is present articles in an interesting format about those things that we know are the concerns of African-American men: hypertension, heart disease, prostate cancer and HIV/AIDS," Von said.

Site sponsors include the American Cancer Society, Wheaton-Franciscan Healthcare and the city of Milwaukee's Health Department.

"I've seen nothing like this to reach the very men that need to be reached -- the most which are African-American men in urban settings. This is why this website and this portal is gonna be great. What's exciting about this is that while it starts in the Greater Milwaukee area, this has the potential to move to every other large, urban area and then to move internationally," Milwaukee Health Commissioner Bevan Baker said.

Commissioner Baker says one of the most appealing aspects about the website is the fact that it's completely free.
