Family hands out flyers about neighbor charged with sexual assault

RACINE (WITI) -- The parents of a girl who says she was sexually assaulted by her next door neighbor were knocking on doors Saturday and handing out flyers.  They wanted to warn people who 60-year-old Robert Lambkin is out of jail and back in his home.

Lambkin is charged with sexually assaulting their eight-year-old daughter.  A criminal complaint says the victim was in an alley between the two homes near Flett Avenue and Washington Avenue, when Lambkin unzipped her jacket and placed his hands on her chest.

"We're just letting families know to watch out for their kids," said the victim's mom.

Lambkin allegedly told police that he put his hands inside the girl's blouse, but he didn't think the girl noticed.  As conditions of his release, Lambkin cannot leave his house if the girl is outside and his window shades must stay drawn.

The girl's parent say their daughter feels like a prisoner in her own home.

"She feels so sad cause she can't even go outside.  She's scared," said her mom.

The victim has been told the District Attorney's Office is trying to move the case along quickly.

"They're doing what they can.  I wish they could do more for me, but you know, it's the law," said the victim's dad.

Lambkin is scheduled to appear in court on March 6th for a preliminary hearing.  He has not been convicted of a crime, and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
