  • This is a picture of Pine Grosbeaks, Red Male, Green Female One of the larger members of its family, the Pine Grosbeak is a bird of the boreal forests, found across northern Eurasia and North America, and south into the mountains of western Canada and the United States. A large, unwary finch, it makes periodic winter irruptions into southern Canada and northern United States. It is the largest and rarest of the "winter finches." It is very unusual they are here in Wisconsin, especially in our backyard. We have a wonderful feeder setup for all the birds which we feed all year. I sent this photo to the Coordinator of Bird City Wisconsin and he said they don't usually come this far south and said it is a gift and for me to enjoy. They have been here almost everyday, but soon they will be gone and I may never see them again. I needed to capture the beauty while I could. I hope you enjoy too.
