INDEPENDENCE, MO — The 2-time defending champion Milwaukee Wave kicked off the playoffs with a remarkable 12-10 overtime win over the host Missouri Comets on Thursday night.

Spotting the Comets a 10-0 lead, Milwaukee tied the game at 10 on a goal by Hewerton (who had the hat trick) with 22 seconds remaining in regulation.

Giuliano Oliviero’s goal at 8:48 of the extra session put coach Keith Tozer’s team on track to wrap up another MISL title on Sunday afternoon at the U.S. Cellular Arena.
