Beyond the Game: Milwaukee Brewers Brandon Kintzler

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Pitcher Brandon Kintzler and the Milwaukee Brewers are a match made in heaven. At least, this "comeback kid" hopes so!

Brewers relief pitcher Kintzler is a 28-year-old with nine professional seasons under his belt. All but one year and 101 days have been spent in the Minor Leagues. Injuries derailed Kintzler's career. After he was released by the San Diego Padres, no one offered him a contract, so the right-hander went to the Independent League and pitched for Winnipeg and St. Paul.

He finally made it to the Brewers in 2011, then came another injury requiring season-ending arm surgery.

Kintzler's career was at a crossroads, but he wouldn't stop chasing his dream and believing he could live it.

Kintzler eventually married his wife in Las Vegas. His agent stood up at the wedding, and his dog, a boxer named "Bo," after the former sports star Bo Jackson was the highlight.

Kintzler's wife Melissa found the tux online!

Brandon and Melissa Kintzler plan to have a real wedding someday, but in a baseball sense, the couple is also married to the Brewers.

Kintzler says he credits scooping ice cream at his sister's business in Las Vegas with helping him rehab from surgery on his shoulder in 2006.
